Q: Why is Yahoo! laying off workers and seeing drastic decreases in revenue?

A: Every feature on Yahoo! is a friggin beta. They now have beta profiles pages... They have had the same profile pages for a decade and now they go beta??? Aren't you suppose to just limited release beta stuff then replace the tried and true method after you figure out what the hell you are doing? This is why the days of Yahoo! are numbered.

That is box office... fearless prediction...

$400 million by end of sunday... if i had to make crazy prediction $415m by the end of sunday. If they give another 6 weeks maybe it can dethrone that P.O.S. Titanic in domestic B.O.

Although a lot of people in the know believe it will be the highest grossing world wide winner at least.

p.s. I don;t know if it will make anyone that doesn't already know about it want to see the movie, but i enjoyed the Watchmen trailer.

long long ago I predicted along with many others, the fate of HD-DVD. I declared from the off set that the PS3 would be the main factor in the failure of HD-DVD. Along with Blu-Ray just being more fun to say, when Blockbuster and recently Netflix droped HD-DVD it was a sign of the pending doom of the lesser of the two formats.
Now Microsoft, on of the biggest supporters of HD-DVD, will cease production of the HD-DVD add on to their Xbox... maybe if one was built into the Xbox if might have had a chance, but Microsoft never had that foresight to put their own format.

Victory over crappy formats and specifically Microsoft!

(fan boys of HDDVD will give you a line about HD-DVD is more advanced because HDDVD has better menus... WTF!!! kinda like building the world's fastest elevator for a two story building.)

Microsoft is going to try to hostile takeover Yahoo!

This means the two or three things i use on Yahoo! will quit working, because i am on a Mac. Also it mean Yahoo will be Live and be lame and be fully integrated but clunky and crappy. Yahoo was already going down hill. They made a buck being an internet directory service, wait they never made any money.

Yahoo was a frankenstein of web service made of bits of old Yahoo, other companies apps and pages crammed very poorly into yahoo and new fancy yahoo tools to try and make it relevant.

Whether it was Flickr or that date site they bought or the stupid yahoo 360. None of it worked. Yahoo was dying... leave it to microsoft to buy a pointless company.

Yahoo! support for Macs will be even more crappy. I will miss my YIM.

I saw taylor hicks today while working a golf channel gig. I was riding in a golf cart and taylor was riding in one going in the oppisite direction. I could have grabbed him as our carts passed, alas I didn't.

otherwise I saw about 15 or 20 famous woman golfers.

I took pictures of scaffolding so next time they will know where it was when last time is this time.

also thank goodness i wasn't driving when taylor came past. I might have not paid attention and had an accident.

Bloggers want to organize and unionize.

Why and for what point?

Do bloggers work for people? I thought bloggers were independant voice on the internet. If bloggers get paid from a person or organization other than advertisers I want that listed prominently on the top of the blog. Don't talk about politics either, because that would be violating McCain/Feingold.

Is the point to get better rates from advertisers? If so, why can advertisers not negotiate with the blogger who creates content on a particular site charge what he wants. Sometimes charging less attracts more advertisers. Is the union going to fine a blogger if he charges a rate lower than what the union dictates? Does it force advertisers to advertise on blogs they don't support or one with readership so small advertising investment would be a loss.

Are non union bloggers going to still be able to blog? Is the union going to harrass advertisers on non union blogs to get them to drop their advertising? Is myspace going be attacked because it is owned by a "right winger"? Is the Daily Kos going to get a pass when they support liberals?

Will state governments that give distinct advantages to unions over those that wish to be free of union tyranny? Will the Democrat controlled congress force those wishing to be non union suplly all their contact data to the union so that they can be harassed to join?

If a company has a contract with a union blogger does keep another union blogger from commenting on that compant or that ban any other non union blogger from their free speech rights?
